Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (GI & NO GI) at Eastside Austin Elite

Our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes introduce students to situational attacks and defense used when grappling. In each class students will be shown a new technique, such as an arm bar or leg lock, that they will then practice with a partner. Our interactive group classes are a great way to stay motivated and get a good workout. While it is recommended you have basic knowledge of grappling techniques for this class, it is all levels and our instructors take pride in adapting the class for any skill level.

There are two forms of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu:

Gi: Traditional system of submission grappling with a kimono where you are allowed to use grips on your opponents clothing to create leverage and cause your opponent to surrender.

No-Gi: Grappling conducted in board shorts with a drawstring, or elastic tight fitted clothing. No grabbing of the opponents clothing is allowed, and pace is generally faster and more athletic.

Beginners Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu:

This class if perfect for anyone who is new to grappling. The foundational principles of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are explained through basic BJJ technique. Each class includes a warmup, introduction to basic movements, and body mechanics. The instructor will illustrate proper concepts of offense and defense to help you learn the fundamentals of BJJ. After just one of these fun and informative classes you will want to keep coming back!

Intermediate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu:

Been coming to class consistently and are comfortable with the fundamentals of BJJ? Try out these classes to learn more in-depth grappling techniques. Beginners can take the concepts they’ve learned and apply them toward more specific offensive and defensive strategy. The “puzzle pieces” of elementary positions and transitions are joined together and become a more clearly defined picture. Work with other students at your skill level to get a great workout while perfecting your BJJ practice.

Competition Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu:

Our competition BJJ class is meant for students who are interested in competing in tournaments. We will prepare you to go head to head in a grappling competition with a high intensity class in which you can perfect finishes, escapes and position maintenance customized to your game plan.

This class consists of 7 minute rounds in which you work with a partner in intense sparring sessions. At the end there is the opportunity for a Q&A with one of our highly experienced instructors in which they can help you work on building up your skill level. This format helps to expose flaws and gives you access to correct any weakness in your offensive and defensive strategy.
