Resting Metabolic Rate

RMR stands for "Resting Metabolic Rate" and is measured in the morning before any exercise and following a three to four hour fast. Our equipment uses indirect calorimetry to determine the amount of oxygen consumed and carbon dioxide produced by the body during a specified period of time.

The resulting value represents how many calories your body requires to maintain daily functions - brain activity, heart & lung function, other internal organ functions & tissue growth & repair. This gives you the number of calories you can eat per day, without exercising, to not gain or lose any weight. So, simply put... how many calories your body needs to stay alive.

From this value we can adjust your daily intake if you’re eating too much or not enough.

VO2 Max

VO2 max refers to the maximum amount of oxygen that an individual can utilize during intense or maximal exercise. It is measured as "milliliters of oxygen used in one minute per kilogram of body weight." This measurement is generally considered the best indicator of an athlete's cardiovascular fitness and aerobic endurance.

We measure VO2 max effort on a stationary bicycle. Our equipment records the volume and oxygen concentration of inhaled and exhaled air during sustained cycling effort through a face mask.

Each health and fitness assessment takes roughly 60 minutes and will require a decent amount of physical exertion. Be sure to wear work out attire. At the completion of your test, a trained staff member will discuss the results with you. Together we will outline a goal oriented plan to achieve the results you need.
